SOME TASTY TREATS FROM TAMIYA

For ‘wooden wonder’ fans, the Tamiya de Havilland Mosquito NF MkII comes in 1:48 scale and as shown here, in Limited Edition form with three newly sculpted figures and a light utility car to ferry them across the airfield (and maybe to the local pub after the mission’s over). Tamiya also includes four decal sets for different Mosquito markings.

The Hanomag SdKfz 251/1 AusfD is a neat model of an armoured half-track of the type that supported Bltitzkrieg units in the early part of World War II. Tamiya supplies two nicely moulded figures and three marking alternatives. At 1:48 scale, the Hanomag works out to a length of 126 mm (4.97 in).

Here’s a completely new idea that shows some truly original thinking at Tamiya’s headquarters at Shizuoka, Japan. It’s a ‘Parts Panel’ designed for shelf display, with kit components laid out in a precise (and very beautiful) arrangement. Two 1:24 Ferraris (Enzo shown above) are currently on offer, plus 1:12 scale motorcycles from Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki.

These models will be available through online suppliers and model stores. You can visit Tamiya here.
